As a member of IRMA, individuals and organizations are expected to adhere to these principles, ensuring a safe, sustainable, and community-focused industry. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all IRMA members. Compliance with this Code is a requirement for continued membership.

Upholding Industry Standards

IRMA members are expected to uphold industry-leading standards and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Members will:

  • Conduct their operations with honesty, integrity, and fairness.
  • Adhere to all relevant legal, regulatory, and industry requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Prioritize safety, committing to best practices in safety management and contributing to the improvement of safety standards.
  • Actively contribute to the sustainable development of the industry and the communities in which they operate.
  • Cultivate a workplace culture that supports the development of employees, ensuring a diverse, skilled, and effective workforce.

Contributing to IRMA’s Activities

IRMA offers a range of opportunities for members to engage with the association’s activities. We encourage active collaboration to further the interests of the rail and mobility industries. When engaging in IRMA activities, members will:

  • Adhere to the terms of reference and any other obligations when participating in IRMA committees and working groups.
  • Act in the best interests of IRMA and the industry when participating in IRMA initiatives and programs.
  • Promote the growth of the industry, maintaining appropriate professional behavior at IRMA events and activities.
  • Provide relevant, timely, and accurate information to support IRMA’s research, advocacy, and industry advancement.
  • Uphold IRMA’s core values in all dealings with the association, its committees, working groups, or projects.

Representing IRMA

  • Members may collaborate with IRMA to support its advocacy efforts and represent the industry’s interests. While doing so, members must not:
  • Misrepresent their personal or organizational views as those of IRMA.
  • Portray IRMA membership as an endorsement of their individual business activities.

Member Misconduct

IRMA expects its members to adhere to the values and standards outlined in this Code. If a member engages in behavior that contradicts these values, it may result in disciplinary action, including censure, suspension, or expulsion from IRMA. Behaviors that may lead to disciplinary actions include, but are not limited to:

  • Illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Actions that damage the reputation of IRMA or the industry.
  • Behavior that is inconsistent with the values and principles of IRMA.

Compliance and Confidentiality

Members are required to comply with the spirit and letter of this Code of Conduct. Members will confirm their commitment to this Code upon joining IRMA and as part of the annual membership renewal process. Members must also maintain confidentiality with regard to any sensitive information received as part of their engagement in IRMA activities, committees, or working groups, and not use this information for personal or improper purposes.

Conflicts of Interest

If a member identifies any potential conflict of interest in their activities as part of IRMA, they must promptly disclose this to the IRMA Company Secretary in writing. IRMA will work with the member to address and resolve the conflict appropriately, ensuring transparency and integrity in all actions.

This Code of Conduct is integral to the success of IRMA and its members, ensuring that we uphold the values of professionalism, collaboration, and ethical responsibility within the rail and mobility sectors.
